Frequently Asked Questions

Going solar is a big step—and we’re here to make sure you feel confident every step of the way. Whether you’re curious about installation, financing, energy savings, or how the whole process works, you’ll find clear, honest answers right here.

Will I still get an electric bill if I have Solar Panels?

Yes, but it might look very different. If your solar system generates enough energy to meet all your needs, your bill could be reduced to just a small service or connection fee from your utility company. However, if you use more electricity than your system produces, you'll be billed for the extra energy used.

How do Solar Panels work?

Solar panels capture sunlight and convert it into electricity through a process called the photovoltaic (PV) effect. That electricity is then sent through an inverter, which changes it from DC (direct current) to AC (alternating current)—the type your home uses. From there, it powers your lights, appliances, and more. Any extra energy can be stored in a battery or sent back to the grid.

What is net metering?

Net metering is a billing system that credits you for the extra electricity your solar panels produce. When your system generates more energy than you use, the excess is sent back to the grid—and you earn credits on your bill. Later, if you need more power than your panels are producing (like at night or on cloudy days), you can use those credits to offset the cost.

What solar energy rebates and incentives are available?

In many areas, you can take advantage of valuable rebates and tax incentives. One of the biggest is the Federal Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC), which allows you to deduct a significant portion of your solar installation costs from your federal taxes. Some states, utilities, and local programs also offer additional incentives or rebates. We’ll help you identify and apply for all the incentives you qualify for when you request a quote.
